Welcome to Acclaim Magazine’s Heat of the Week for April 26, 2024. Here are our favourite new releases from Australia and around the world this week — Follow our playlist here for updates of the best new music every single Friday.

01. Cash Cobain - Fisherrr remix ft. Bay Swag, Ice Spice

Ice Spice sounds at home on this new remix of Cash Cobain’s ‘Fisherrr’. It’s a switch up from her usual style, letting off smooth autotuned flows atop the hazy instrumental that’s more than likely already stuck in your head. The original was already a banger, but now it’s even better.

02. Chiggz - Wish List ft. Smak

The production on ‘Wish List’ thrives in West Coast influence, sounding like something you’d hear on YG’s My Crazy Life. Chiggz’ voice bellows throughout his verses, bringing straightforward but snappy flows you can’t help but bop to. Smak matches his energy, providing a slick verse for this future party anthem.

03. PartyNextDoor - F o r C e r t a i n

F o r C e r t a i n’ is some classic PND, but with a twist. The production is as moody as ever, but with an extra dose of rhythym, feeling like the ecstasy of a late-night club dancefloor. Party, of course, pops off here, catapulting into fervent croons with every line. It’s a highlight on his new album PARTYNEXTDOOR 4, which you can stream now.

04. DEVAURA - VENICE, Law OS

This new DEVAURA song is absolutely enchanting. Her soulful howls keep your attention throughout as she hits notes with an undeniable vehemence. The production from Law OS is of blockbuster proportions, transitioning between atmospheric synth layers and blasts of energetic house.

05. Erik Sanders - High N Fly

This new Erik Sanders song wastes no time getting to business. A rage beat courtesy of xen0 pairs massive synths with mortar-like 808s. Erik Sanders tackles the production with style, seamlessly switching flows and melodies throughout in an effortless display of excellence.

06. Normani, Gunna - 1:59

As soon as you hear the lush guitars strum, you know ‘1:59’ is about to hit different. The stripped-back instrumental puts all the attention on the singer’s passionate warbles, and Gunna even switches out his signature triplet flows for some surprisingly satisfying melodies. This one thrives in the ambience of classic early 2000s R&B.

07. Tems - Love Me Jeje

‘Love Me Jeje’ is an ode to the euphoria of romance, perfectly communicated through the passionate the singer’s melodies. The afrobeat production pairs snappy percussion and understated synths to create vibrant atmosphere. There isn’t many better ways to bring in a weekend than with some new Tems.

08. Mike Akox - OMALICHA

The title of this new Mike Akox track translates to ‘Beauty’, something that this song possesses a lot of. Horns soar atop the scurrying percussion of the amapiano-inspired instrumental, creating something that has depth and is undeniably danceable. Mike’s versatility is on display vocally, as he switches from smooth melodies to high-octane shouts. The man just keeps on getting better.

09. Tommy Richman - Million Dollar Baby

If you’re not hip to Tommy Richman yet, ‘Million Dollar Baby’ is the perfect instrumental. The DMV singer has a voice that’s part Brent Faiyaz part Backstreet Boys, and it results in a sound that’s unique and undeniably catchy. His melodies slide over some glossy keys and Memphis-like vocal chops, making this cut an instant head-bop.

010. Niontay - RealYungPhil, Surf Gang - Halftones

Surf Gang’s production on ‘Halftones’ is so damn smooth. Eerie keys reverberate alongside some deep, lurking bass and rattling hi-hats. RealYungPhil’s stern flows slice through, and Niontay floats with some woozy, rap-sung bars. It’s both laid-back and bouncy.
